Green Eggs & Vin is a field blend from a magical plot of ancient hillside vines. This exceptional vineyard (less than 1 hectare in size) could well be the oldest in Maury and while Grenache Noir (60%) and Carignan Noir (15%) dominate, roughly a quarter of the vineyard comprises white varietals including Grenache Blanc, Macabeu, Carignan Blanc and Grenache Gris. The resulting wine is pretty, yet elegant with underlying old-vine complexity and concentration. Only two barrels (550 bottles) are produced each year.
2015
“The 2015 Côtes Catalanes Green Eggs And Vin is an old vine field blend and is always a unique, singular, incredibly complex wine. Incense, dried flowers, exotic spice, red currants, and mulberry notes all flow to a medium-bodied, graceful, elegant red that has terrific freshness and purity as well as intensity. It’s another beautiful vintage for this cuvée, which always leans more toward the fresh, elegant side of the spectrum. 92 points – Jeb Dunnuck (November 2018)
2015
“A single-vineyard cuvee (mostly Grenache and Carignan, but includes 30% white grape varieties) that’s from a cooler, north-facing slope, the 2015 IGP Cotes Catalanes Green Eggs and Vin was picked at the start of September and is brought up in older barrels. It’s a singular 2015 that offers gorgeous notes of plums, violets, cherries and exotic spices. Medium-bodied, silky and elegant on the palate, it shines for its purity and finesse, yet doesn’t lack for texture or length, and has good concentration. It’s a beautiful wine that will keep for at least 6-7 years.” 91-93 points – Jeb Dunnuck – The Wine Advocate (April 2017)
2014
“A fresh, crisp and pretty red (that sports an eye catching label!), the 2014 IGP Côtes Catalanes Green Eggs and Vin checks in as a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Carignan and the rest white varieties, including Carignan Blanc, Alicante, Grenache Blanc and Macabeu. Raised in older barrels, it exhibits lots of red and black fruits, mulling spice, licorice and hints of leather in a medium to full-bodied, supple, seamless package. It will impress right out of gate and keep for 5-6 years.” 91 points – Jeb Dunnuck – The Wine Advocate (April 2016)
